Bert: The white-gray walls never seemed to glow with the same happiness they used to and the floor just seemed to be more filthy than Bert's old kitchen. Bert lay quiet -for once- in his one sheeted bed, while staring to wards the ceiling. He knew that he would be in here for a while...and he knew there wasn't a way to escape. Not even if he were to just slip through the bars somehow...and creep -- His thoughts are disrupted by a loud crashing sound. His eyes follow a guard, watching him close the door to their hell hole. Their home. He massages his aching, pounding temples as he turns over in his cot. It squeaked, but then again...every bed did.

Gerard: Hearing the loud crash didn't even phase him as he lay in his bed--if you could even call it a bed. The place is musty, and smells of sweat and fear, but he doesn't get scared himself anymore. Stealing a glance to his left, he notices his cell-mate, Bert, rubbing his temples. For once, the other man is calm and not shouting at something. Sighing, Gerard rolls onto his side and shuts his eyes. Lights out was probably an hour ago, and he's hoping to catch some sleep before the day swallows the night.

Bert: He groans, the pain of wanting meth so badly drills inside his head. He turns back onto his other side, the cot squeaking again and faces his cell-mate, Gerard. "Now that's HE'S gone..." His voice trails off as he gets up from his cot and faces the bars to the hall. Carefully, he unzips his pants, aims and urinates all over the floor for the guard to see the next morning. The whole time, a smile upon his face. Quickly, he zips his pants back up and flops onto his bed, giggling a little and sighing. "That one was held for about a day."

Gerard: He hears his cell-mate giggling, saying that he'd "Held that one" for about a day, but he knows that a day in Bert's mind is actually only probably two hours. He also knows that pissing on the floor after the guard did their nightly walk-around was something he'd done since day one. It's immature, but Bert does it anyway. "You're one sick fucker, you know that?" Gerard states, more than asks, not even turning to look at the other man. He just pulls the thin sheet closer around himself and wishes that it was a little warmer.

Bert: He giggles more, stands up and walks over to the divider keeping Gerard and himself away from each other. He smiles more, almost mocking Gerard in a way. And almost everyone knew that that was what Bert enjoyed the most. "Everyone is, pretty boy." His black, long, stringy hair falls down over his ear that was tucked behind before. He tucks it back behind his ear to get it out of his way and speaks again, "How do you hold it in, anyway? I NEVER saw you piss yet." Except Bert's a little surprised at his own question. He only now realized that for a whole 2 and half months of Bert's history in hell, he never once saw Gerard Way urinate. Nor cry...or complain. Just the same statement of, "You're one sick fucker."

Gerard: Finally, he turns and lies on his other side once again, opening his eyes to look at Bert from behind the bars. "Two things. One, why the fuck would you want to see me piss? And two, ever think I just go when you're sleeping?" Gerard states, giving him a flat look. He thinks Bert's so stupid sometimes, he swears that there's gotta be some blonde underneath that tangled mass of black hair. He sits up, taking his sheet and wrapping it tightly around his shoulders. Trying to gain some body heat is a good idea to Gerard, because it gives him something to concentrate on; rather than how slowly the time's passing.

Bert: Speechless, he walks back over to his cot, climbing on top and ignoring the annoying cry coming from it. He pulls the sheet up over him, and yawns. Today, no doubt, was a long day. His eyelids closed but then soon flipped open again. "I can't get to sleep." But it comes out more as a whine than a normal statement. He turns to his side...then his other...and then on his back. "I can't sleep at all." His eyes are red-rimmed and though many people say it's from the amount of drugs, (Though 80% is because of that reason) Bert's convinced that it's the lack of sleep he's getting.

Gerard: Sighing, he looks over at the other man. "Just shut your eyes and give it a minute." But as he says this, he can't help but to remember. It just plays so beautifully in his mind's eye.
"Geraaaard.." He whines. "I can't sleeeeepp." You look over at him from across the bedroom you share, and smile. "Aw, Mikes, c'mon. Just give it a while and you'll fall asleep like that." You snap your fingers for emphasis, and your little brother yawns. "Can I sleep in your bed?" He asks, but quickly adds, "Just for tonight." "Sure." You agree and make room as he shuffles across the room and into your single bed with you. You both fit perfectly, and it seems like not even a minute later that Mikey's sleeping. You put your arm around him and settle in for sleep as well. "Just for tonight."

Bert: He studies his cell-mates face. Not intimidatingly, just so he can figure out what the other man is thinking about. He tilts his head to one side, hair falling over his shoulder. "Is my sugar cube okaaaay?" Dragging on his words was something Bert never seemed to get tired of. He saw the expression of sadness coming from Gerard, even through the pitch black environment. Bert never misses much.

Gerard: Hearing his cell-mate's voice, his flashback disappears like fog on a windowpane. Though over the last while he's become accustomed to them, this one leaves him with a heavy feeling in his heart. "What?" Gerard asks, trying and failing to pick out the details of Bert's face. It's too dark to see that far, and he just settles with leaning his back against the wall. He waits for a reply from his cell-mate as he feels pain eating away at the heart he thought he'd gotten rid of long ago.

Bert: "You looked so fucking sad," Bert explains, looking over directly at Gerard. Though he doesn't care much of it, it is still a topic to talk about. And Bert knew his insomnia wouldn't leave him like 1, 2, 3. He blinks a couple of times to get his eyes tired of the same motion but nothing works. He runs his hand (Or what won't get stuck) through his hair, before finally turning on his side, facing Gerard.

Gerard: Sad? He's not sure if he hears Bert correctly. He thinks about everything that's happened so many times, that calling himself sad seems like a beautiful thing. He's not sad, or happy. He just doesn't feel much of anything anymore. And that's how he likes it, because nobody can hurt him, and he can't hurt anyone else. Not ever again. "No, I'm just tired." Gerard lies, pulling the sheet around his shoulders a little tighter.

Bert: He smiles a little, and nods, feeling the blanket of sleepiness and drowsiness fall over him. He's comfortable and for once thinks that maybe he could get to sleep for more than 3 hours. "Alright, If you say so." Yawning, he stretches and closes his eyelids again. This time, forcing them to stay shut. "Night, Gerard. I'll see you in the morning." Within a few moments, Bert McCracken, King of insomnia, was sleeping like his whole life depended on it.

Gerard: After a few moments, he hears nothing but Bert's breathing. In and out, in and out. It's steady and rhythmic pattern is relaxing, and Gerard closes his eyes for the final time that night. Before he can even think about much of anything, he's sleeping like a baby.
